Two directional clamp - Jigs fixture design - Wisetool
Two Directional clamp design
This clamping fixture provides two direction clamping using just one hand knob.
The top clamp pushes the part to the right while the left clamp holds the part down on the fixture's base. This clamp design allows for a variation in thickness of the work piece. The work piece will always rest at the right angle datum plane.
The part can easily be released from the clamping fixture once the hand knob is loosened.

External clamp for small items and round parts
External clamp design for small items |
A taper tip piston is used to provide a strong clamping force.
To release the clamped part, the piston rod retracts causing the link bars to pull the circular clamps back to its original location, releasing the part.
This design is best used for parts that has a larger variation in outer dimension as the part will always be self aligned to the center of the clamp.
This design is similar to the first design, the two clamps is able to immediately return to its original position when the piston rob retracts. This design is more suitable for a cleaner environment where dust and dirt will not affect the clamp to return.
